Purchasing & Pixel Blocks

Dive into the essential details about purchasing and creating pixel spaces on Xpixel.

You choose your exact block. On the Xpixel page, put the mark where you want to be (click or tap the canvas, drag the mark, or move it one block at a time), pick a shape (10×10, 10×20 or 20×10) and add it to your cart. The sector under the mark sets the price. Up to five blocks per order, each with its own coordinates, and 10 block units in all (a 10×20 or 20×10 is one block and counts as two units). You check out securely by card and the block is yours.
Every block has an X and a Y, each from 1 to 100, counted from the bottom-left corner of the canvas: X runs to the right, Y runs up. A 10×20 block is named by its bottom cell and a 20×10 by its left cell. Sold blocks, the eight auction blocks and blocks in other people's carts are shown on the canvas and cannot be chosen.
Yes. “Randomize coordinates” places the mark on a free block inside the sector you have chosen; choosing a sector card does the same. You can still move it afterwards.
Sectors are concentric squares, each with its own price. The two-block outer frame is the most premium border and the centre is exclusive; among the rings, the middle ring is the most affordable. Live prices for your region are shown on every sector card and in your cart. See the Xpixel page.
Each sector has one price per 10×10 block: Sector 1, Pacific Ocean (the outer frame) €1.024,00; Sector 2, Indian Ocean €256,00; Sector 3, Southern Ocean €64,00; Sector 4, Arctic Ocean €128,00; Sector 5, Atlantic Ocean (the centre) €512,00. A tall 10×20 or wide 20×10 block covers two places, so it costs twice the sector price. Prices include VAT. One order can hold up to 5 blocks (10 places in total). There are no other fees. During the launch sale, 50% comes off these prices at checkout.
The first 100 blocks sold are 50% off, in every sector. Nothing to enter: the discount is applied automatically at checkout, and the canvas page shows the sale price next to the usual one. A tall 10×20 or wide 20×10 block counts as two of the 100. The usual limit stays: up to 5 blocks (10 places) per order. Each sale block's certificate carries a Launch edition number, in the order the sale blocks were paid, for example "Launch edition · No. 37 of 100". Once all 100 are sold, the sale ends and prices return to normal; an order already paid at the sale price stays as it is.
Because collaboration is the whole point. The canvas only exists if 10,000 collaborators around the world each take a piece of the same idea, and that shared effort is what gives it its meaning. It makes a story that could go down in the books, or on the internet, for centuries: Xpixel has the potential to become a piece of art history. That is a hope, not a promise, and a block is a piece of an artwork to take part in, never an investment.
The block at the exact coordinates you chose, recorded in your name. Within minutes you get a certificate of ownership by email and in your dashboard, with a link and QR code anyone can use to verify it. You may put your own artwork on the block (within the image rules, in the 60 days after purchase), and artists repaint it by hand on the physical canvas, as a recognisable interpretation rather than a 1:1 copy. Your name is inscribed on the back of the finished painting. You can gift or transfer the block for free. It is a piece of a shared artwork: not an investment, share, token or NFT, and it does not include the physical painting or the Xpixel name.
The canvas is planned to be full in spring 2027. If it is not full by then, the project extends to summer 2027, and after that season by season (autumn 2027 and so on) until the canvas is full: sales stay open, and your block, certificate and artwork are unaffected. Nothing you bought is lost or moved.

Payments & Refunds

How payment works, how long a block is held for you, and when you are refunded.

Major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, plus local options such as Klarna and Bancontact where they are available. Your checkout shows what works in your country. It is PCI-DSS certified and encrypted; your card details never reach our servers.
No. Xpixel is not a crypto project. You buy with a card through a secure checkout, exactly like any other online store. No wallet, no tokens, nothing to set up.
From the moment you add a block to your cart it is held for you for 15 minutes. The countdown is shown in the cart, the hold refreshes while you stay on the page, and it stretches to 30 minutes when you go to checkout. If the time runs out, the block is released. In the rare case someone else’s payment for the same block lands before yours, we never swap it for another block: we email you to explain, and our team refunds that block in full within 2 business days.
Yes. You can withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of your order, for any reason. Press Withdraw next to the order in your dashboard, write to hello@xpixel.tech, or use the withdrawal form in our Terms. Your blocks then return to the canvas, their certificates are cancelled and any uploaded image is deleted, and we refund what you paid to your original payment method within 14 days. After 14 days a purchase is final, and your legal rights stay unaffected: if something is wrong with what you bought, we put it right or refund you. You are always refunded in full if we cannot deliver the block you chose: our team issues that refund within 2 business days, and your bank then takes a few days to show it. A block you have transferred to someone else cannot be withdrawn from the dashboard; write to us instead. Support-the-project contributions can also be withdrawn within 14 days.
A thank-you email and one supporter card for you: its own page with your name, your supporter number and the date you first supported, never the amount. Give again and it goes on the same card: your number stays, and your dashboard shows the running total and each contribution. The name follows the one you set under My Account. A contribution goes to the physical painting (print, frame, exhibition); it is not a block on the canvas and has no coordinates.

Uploading Artwork

Explore the essential details about uploading and managing your pixel artwork.

You have 60 days after purchase to upload your image. The date is shown on each block in your dashboard, and if no image is in yet we email you 14, 7 and 3 days before it closes. Crop it, preview it on the canvas, replace it as often as you like, then submit it for review to lock it in.
Upload your own work, or an image you have the rights to use in a public artwork. Nothing illegal, hateful, sexually explicit or violent, and no one else’s copyrighted work, characters or logos without their permission. Photos of people are welcome when everyone shown has agreed. When you submit, we ask whether a real person can be recognised; if it is someone other than you, or a child, we check the permission with you before approving it. An image found online, even through Google or social media, does not come with permission to use it. Every image first gets an automatic safety check, then a person reviews it before it goes on the canvas. If an image is refused or we ask for a change, we tell you why and you can upload again.
Until you submit it, yes: replace your image as often as you like within the 60-day upload window. Once you submit it for review it is locked; until we approve it you can still tap Cancel review in your dashboard to unlock it. Once approved it becomes a permanent part of the canvas. If we ask for a change, you can upload again.
Your block stays yours, with its certificate. We leave it plain: it is painted in whatever colours suit the finished physical painting around it. After the 60 days you can no longer upload artwork for it, unless you submitted in time and we asked for a change.
JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 8 MB and 25 megapixels (an animated GIF keeps its first frame). iPhone photos: choose “Most Compatible” in the camera settings, or share the photo as JPEG. The cropper fits your image to your block’s shape (square, tall or wide) and shows it in place on the canvas before you submit. Upload the sharpest version you have: nothing is shrunk, and artists repaint your block from the full original. On the physical canvas, each block is painted by hand as a recognisable interpretation of your image, not a 1:1 copy. The artists keep its main shapes, colours and feeling, while the finest details give way to brushwork. Clear subjects with strong contrast read best.

Receipts & Accounts

Your account, receipts and certificates, and giving a block to someone else.

Yes. Every block belongs to an account, so there is no guest checkout. Sign in with Google, Facebook or Shop, or enter your email and we send you a six-digit code; there is no password either way. Your account holds your blocks while they are in your cart, and it is where your certificates, artwork and transfers live afterwards.
Every receipt is emailed to you, and your orders and certificates are listed in your dashboard under My Pixels. Each certificate has its own page you can open, print or save.
We minimize data collection. Only necessary details for transaction and communication are retained, following strict GDPR guidelines.
It is a perfect last-minute gift. It reaches them by email within minutes of your payment, or on the morning you choose, with a certificate in their name. It is rare too: only 10,000 exist, each at its own place on one canvas. And the gift goes on after it arrives: there is the story to read, the film to watch and a picture of their own to choose, and they get to follow how the world reacts to a digital idea becoming a real, physical painting. Before you pay, “See the email they get” shows you exactly what they receive.
Both are free: we take no fee and no cut. To gift a block as you buy it, tick “Send this as a gift” in the cart, add your name and type the recipient’s email twice; you can pick a delivery date and see the email they get before you pay. To pass on a block you already own, use Transfer in your dashboard. It works in three steps: in your dashboard you send the transfer to their email; they accept it with a six-digit code we email them; then you confirm it once more. Only your confirmation moves the block, and it moves at once: they get a new certificate in their name and yours is marked transferred. You choose whether your artwork goes with it. If not, your picture is taken off the digital canvas and they upload their own (a block that is already painted stays as it is). A transfer passes on the block, not the copyright in your picture. If it does go with it, it is theirs to keep or to replace with their own picture, as long as the block's 60-day upload window is still open (a transfer does not restart it). Once a block is transferred, it can no longer be withdrawn from your dashboard; write to us if something is wrong.
A transfer has to be completed within 24 hours of being sent. If they have not accepted, or you have not confirmed, by then, it is withdrawn and deleted. The block stays yours and nothing changes. You can cancel at any point before your final confirmation, and start up to three transfers a day.

Your data

How to delete your account and data, and what signing in with Google or Facebook shares with us.

  1. Email hello@xpixel.tech from the address on your account with the subject “Delete my data”, or write to us through the contact page.
  2. We reply to confirm it is you. If you hold blocks, we first offer to transfer them, because your certificates are tied to your account.
  3. Within one month we delete your account, your sign-in connections, artwork drafts, assistant chats and messages, and confirm by email.
We keep only what the law requires us to keep, such as order and accounting records. This applies however you signed in: with an email code, Google or Facebook.
Before we delete anything we ask whether you would like to transfer your blocks to someone else. A transfer keeps the block, its artwork and its certificate together. If you delete your account, we remove your name and contact details. Approved artwork is part of the canvas and normally stays in place, held only by its coordinates. If your artwork shows you or someone else and you want it taken off too, tell us: we look at each request under data-protection law, take the digital image down where that is required, and explain what can and cannot change in a painting that is already finished.
Only your email address. We never see your password for that account, your contacts, your posts or anything else on your profile, and we never post on your behalf.
  • Facebook: Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites → Xpixel → Remove.
  • Google: myaccount.google.com/connections → Xpixel → Delete all connections.
Disconnecting only removes that way of signing in. Your Xpixel account and blocks stay until you ask us to delete them.
